Head full of healthy hair adds immensely to the beauty and confidence of the individual. Baldness can affect an individual especially if it happens when the person is young. Hair transplant is a solution to this problem.

Hair transplant is a popular surgical technique that involves movement of individual hair follicles from one part of the body known as the donor site to another part of the body known as the recipient site. This surgical technique is primarily used to remedy baldness in men.

There are many hair transplant methods. Some are very effective. FUE is one among them. Also known as FUE harvesting, follicular unit extraction (FUE) has benefited many people worldwide.

In FUE, follicular units are removed directly from the donor area. With this method of harvesting, individual follicular units containing one to four hairs are removed under local anesthesia. This micro removal typically uses tiny punches of between 0.6 mm and 1 mm in diameter.

After this is done, the surgeon uses small micro blades to puncture the sites for receiving grafts, placing them in a predetermined density and pattern; and angling the wounds in a consistent fashion. This promotes a realistic hair pattern. Some surgeons use find needles instead of small micro blades. Final part of the procedure of inserting the individual grafts in place is performed by technicians.

FUE hair transplant procedure is performed in a single session or in multiples sessions. It is a considerably long session if it has to be a singular session. It is time consuming and has to be performed by people who are trained to do so.

There are restrictions on patient candidacy. People are selected after a fox test; however, some experts have apprehensions on the usefulness of this test in screening people for FUE.

This popular method of hair transplant gives natural results. It adds density to areas of thinning very effectively. It has many advantages over strip harvesting. One such advantage is that FUE harvesting negates the need for large areas of scalp tissue to be harvested. As a result of this, there is no linear incision on the back of the head. It does not leave linear scar.

Since individual follicles are removed, only small punctate scars remain. But they are not visible. Post-surgical discomfort and pain are minimal. Also since no suture removal is involved in FUE, the person recovers in less than a week.

There are minor disadvantages of FUE. One such disadvantage is the surgery duration. It is also more expensive than other methods. According to some experts, FUE can lead to a lower ration of successfully transplanted follicles than strip harvesting. Some experts suggest that in case a person needs more than one transplant, it would be difficult to find a good strip after a FUE procedure.

In spite of these, FUE has helped many get hair on their head with minimum discomfort. Everything will back to normal in less than a week. If you are affected by baldness, it is definitely advisable to go for FUE.
